As a driver in Scotland, I am possibly the last person to defend the actions of caravaners. Soon the miles to the Highlands and Lowlands will be blocked with hundreds of them - literally. Scottish roads are just not built for this kind of traffic.

That said, I spotted an article on the launch of The Little Guy - and this is the mutt's!! A mini-caravan with BBQ, with the deluxe version offering alloy wheels and optional beer tap, yes, that's correct, beer tap - it's a party on wheels.

Although no toilet, it can be pulled by a mini - this thing has just about everything you need and is just brilliant. Should take up less space than the other houses-on-wheels too.

I have been mulling over Apple's decision to switch over to using Intel processors during the next couple of years, the first changlings possibly being shunted out at the end of 2006. Considering the anti-Microsoft stance of most Apple users, it's not surprising that the company is getting some mixed responses.

MacRumors' and many other discussion forums are showing posts from some very disgruntled Applers. The surprising thing (to some) is that the numbers supporting the move is well ahead of the detractors. Does it matter that the processors are similar/same as used in PCs? I don't think so.

This is a business, not a cultural decision. Big Blue have been sitting on its hands for a couple of years now, and the development of the PowerPC ships for 2006 and beyond has suffered. Ironically, most of the chip movement has been the other way with XBox, Nintendo and PlayStation all moving to PowerPC ships to drive the next generation of gaming machines - talk about your "Think Different"! Could this be why IBM is spending so little time on Apple's business? I expect so.

If Intel can supply stable, fast chips that use less power and create less heat so that Apple can finally get a G5 Powerbook or iBook to market, that's got to be a good thing. If Apple can't bring the speed of its processors up (regardless of their - there's more to speed than megahertz - arguments) the future will be one with poor line upgrades and dwindling sales.

Moving to Intel at least shows that Apple are comitted to doing what is necessary to get the job done, and to take Macs forward for the next 10 years.

Here's an astonishing piece of news from the US. This guy should be employee of the year or something...
"Thomas Stefanelli was commended for making 4 pizza deliveries after he was shot. Stefanelli was shot in the leg by a masked man who demanded money. While suffering the gunshot, he discovered that his cell phone wasn't working. He went to his next delivery to inform his boss about the incident. Afterward, he made three more deliveries before he was treated for his injury. The gunshot caused no serious damage to the 37-year-old's leg. Police have identified numerous suspects fitting the gunman's description."
Damn, this guy makes me look lazy!

Well done to all who took part in the 5km Race for Life in Edinburgh yesterday. Especially those who I saw - Nicola (of course), Karen A and Michela, Karen K and Amelie, Hazel and Gillian (both of FTI). Jamie, Anna and I braved the inclement weather to watch at the top of Queen's drive as 7,000 ladies ran past us.

Start today on some new contract work with F&C in Edinburgh, so better mind my Ps&Qs. Where I come from, being referred to as an F'n' C immediately preceded a fight.
